What do the three coloured dots in the top-left do?

They're the standard Mac-style window buttons. Red closes the app, yellow minimizes it (it shrinks and fades toward the Dock, then hides), and green maximizes the window to fill the screen. When already maximized the green dot shows a small dash and clicking it restores the previous size. Hovering each shows a label (Close / Minimize / Zoom).

How do I move the window around?

Drag the top bar of the window (the strip to the right of the coloured dots). You can also double-click that bar to maximize the window, and double-click again to restore it.

How do I resize the window? The normal edges don't seem to grab.

Accepted Answer

Drag any edge or corner like a normal app. The app draws its own resize handles over the border, and they're actually a bit WIDER than a normal window edge. Aim for the very outer rim (the thin dark border around the white card) and drag — all four edges and corners work. If dragging genuinely does nothing, the window is maximized (resizing is disabled while maximized) — click the green button to come out of maximized first.

How do I make the window full screen / fill my display?

Click the green dot in the top-left, or double-click the top bar. The window grows to fill the screen. To go back to a smaller window, click the green dot again (it now shows a dash) or double-click the top bar. While maximized the rounded corners square off and the resize handles are disabled.

Does the app remember my window size and position?

Accepted Answer

Yes. When you move, resize, or maximize the window, the app quietly remembers it and reopens at the same size, place and maximized state next time you launch (once you're signed in). The window will never reopen smaller than its minimum size of about 400 × 560.

What are the sections in the sidebar?

Accepted Answer

The top lists your task views and lists (Inbox, All, Planned, Completed, your own Supernote lists, and a Pushed tasks folder once push is set up). Below that are two collapsible sections: Settings (Scheduling, Task apps, FAQs, plus your device connection) and Quick actions (Sync now, Push now). Click a section heading to collapse or expand it; your choice is remembered.

Can I make the sidebar wider or narrower?

Yes — when the sidebar is expanded you can drag the divider line between the sidebar and the main list to set its width. There are two drag strips on the divider with a gap in the middle for the collapse chevron. This is separate from collapsing it entirely.

When the sidebar is collapsed, can I still open a settings section?

Accepted Answer

Yes. While collapsed, each Settings/Quick actions section shows just its heading icon; click that icon to reveal its items as a row of smaller icons, then click the one you want. Hovering any icon shows its name. You can also click the collapse chevron to expand the whole sidebar back to its labelled view.

Where are the settings? I can't find a gear menu.

Accepted Answer

Settings live right in the sidebar under the Settings heading, not in a separate window. Click Scheduling to set how often things sync and push, Task apps to connect and configure apps like Todoist, or FAQs for common questions. Selecting one replaces the to-do list in the main area with that settings page. Click any task view to go back to your to-dos.

What's in the Scheduling settings section?

Scheduling has two cards. "Device & cloud sync" controls how often the app checks your Supernote (Manual = only when you ask or open the app; Auto = on a timer you set, e.g. every 5 minutes), with a "Sync now" button. "Push to task apps" controls when your tasks are handed off to connected apps (Manual or Auto on a timer), with a "Push now" button. The push timer can't be set faster than the sync timer, because a push always syncs first — if you set it lower it snaps up and flashes amber.

What's in the ‘Manage task apps’ settings section?

Task apps is where you connect and manage the apps you hand tasks off to — Todoist, Apple Reminders, Google Tasks and so on. Use "Add task app" to connect one, then each connected app shows a card with a connection status, a "Push tasks" on/off switch, and a Settings button that expands to its options (how lists map across, whether to attach linked-note PDFs, and more). A shared "Linked notes settings" card controls where note PDFs are saved.

What does the tablet icon in the sidebar mean, and why is it red or green?

That's your Supernote device connection. The tablet icon is RED with "Device not connected" when the app can't reach your Supernote over Wi-Fi, and GREEN (showing the device's name, or "Supernote connected") once it's reachable on the same network. Click it to open the connection panel to connect or check status. Your tasks still sync through the Supernote cloud even when the device itself isn't directly connected.

What do the Sync now and Push now items in Quick actions do?

Sync now immediately checks your Supernote cloud and device for changes (rather than waiting for the next scheduled check). Push now hands every eligible open task off to your connected task apps right away. The Sync item's label also shows live status — "Syncing…" while it's working, or a countdown like "Next device sync in 12s" until the next automatic check.

Question 14

I clicked Push now and nothing happened — why?

Accepted Answer

Push needs at least one task app connected and switched on. If you see "Connect a task app first — see Settings → Task apps", connect one there. If you see "Pushing is paused — turn it back on in Task apps", a connected app has its "Push tasks" switch off — turn it back on. You may also see "Nothing to push — already pushed, locked, or still saving", meaning there were no eligible tasks to send.

What's the little grey message that briefly appears, sometimes flashing green?

That's the status line at the bottom of the list — a short confirmation of what just happened, like "Pushed 5 to Todoist ✓" or "Date cleared on 2 to-dos". It briefly pulses green to draw your eye, then fades to grey. It's just feedback; you don't need to do anything with it.

A "Sync progress" box with a log and a timer appeared during a push — what is it?

Accepted Answer

That's the push-progress window: a live log of each step, a running timer, and a progress bar so you can see how the hand-off is going. While a manual push is running, open it with the little arrow (›) that appears on the push pill in the bottom left — it records the whole push from the start, so you get the full log even if you open it midway. It's only available for pushes you trigger yourself, not automatic background pushes, and otherwise you won't see it. Close it with the × in its corner.

Question 17

Why is the app showing "Connecting…" / "Couldn't load your to-dos" with a spinner?

Accepted Answer

"Connecting…" appears while the app loads your to-dos from Supernote — normal on launch or after signing in. If it can't load them (for example the connection times out), it switches to a "Couldn't load your to-dos" screen with Retry, Reload and "Sign in again" buttons so you're never stuck on the spinner. Try Retry first; if it keeps failing, use Sign in again to refresh your session.
