The sync pill says "Couldn't reach the cloud — will retry" — did something break?

No — Supernote's cloud is sometimes slow to answer, and this is the app being honest about it. It gives each check a generous window (about 12 seconds) and retries once before giving up on that pass; if it still can't get through, it shows this message and simply tries again on the next scheduled check (or when you press Sync now). Nothing is lost — your changes are saved on this Mac and go out as soon as the cloud responds. While a sync is working through changes, the pill shows live progress like "Syncing… 3 to go".
