Why does the app sometimes say a note changed right after I started writing on it?

While you're actively writing on a page, the file on the device keeps changing, so the app legitimately sees it as "newer" than its saved copy and may show "Update available". That's expected — it just means there's fresher ink. Pull the latest whenever you're ready; there's no need to refresh on every stroke.
